The characteristic response of the marine environment to intense wind forcing is considered using a numerical coupled sea-atmosphere model. It is shown that the model reproduces cold sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies developing in the eastern part of the Black Sea on November 6-8, 2011, which were recorded in satellite data. The role of various mechanisms in the formation of these anomalies is quantitatively assessed and it is shown that the main factor that caused a sharp decrease in SST is wind mixing. The influence of the cold anomaly on the current velocity fields near the Caucasian coast is considered (in particular, the appearance of a cyclonic eddy in the sea and an increase in the velocity of the Black Sea Rim Current).
