Абстракт
The article implements a modified variational algorithm for assimilation of measurement data in a model of passive impurity transfer for the Sea of Azov. The search for the initial concentration field is performed iteratively by minimizing the prediction quality functional that characterizes the deviation of model estimates from measurement data. At the same time, an evaluation method is used that allows obtaining appropriate estimates of solutions. This problem is also solved using a standard variational procedure based on solving conjugate problems and iterative minimization of the functional. The results obtained are compared with each other. Numerical experiments have shown the advantage of the modified algorithm under certain conditions. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
