Абстракт
Recent studies show warming of bottom waters in the Southern Ocean and adjacent abyssal basins. The potential temperature trends are similar in different basins; the mean value is 0.002 °C/year. However, the exact distributions of abyssal water warming in channels and fracture zones connecting abyssal basins remain unknown. In this study, we analyze deep-water temperature data collected during more than 40 years in the deep basins and channels of the Atlantic Ocean. Based on these data, we confirm that the warming of abyssal waters in the Atlantic Ocean is observed in the basins west of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge; potential temperature east of the ridge remains relatively constant or decreases. The recent CTD data collected in 2022 show that the signal of abyssal water warming cannot propagate over the sills of the ridge; thus, the temperature changes significantly differ astride the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
